20 July 2011 | The 2011 Laureate of the Academy designated

The 2011 Laureate of the Academy is Mr. Mario Micciché from Italy.
 
His essay was selected from among 24 essays submitted this year on the topic: "Is Arbitration a Form of International Justice ?"
 
A Jury composed of Professor Diego Fernanez Arroyo, Professor George Bermann, Dr. Klaus Sachs, Professor Marie-Elodie Ancel and Professor Jean-Baptiste Racine chose the five best essays competing for the Prize. Following the Jury's deliberations, the 2011 Laureate of the Academy Prize was awarded to Mr. Mario Micciché. The runner up for the best essay was Diane Desierto from the Philippines. The three other finalists were: Ms. Kamalia Mehtiyeva from Azerbaijan, Mr. Christopher Chinn from the USA and Mr. Karim El Chazli from Egypt.
 
All finalists received a publication on the New York Convention as well as one-year access to the database Doctrinal.fr. The winning essay will be published in the volume of publications of the Academy's Courses.

14 July 2011 | The Jury for the 2011 Laureate of the Academy Prize constituted

We would like to remind you that the deadline to submit your essay expires at the end of the day on Friday, July 15th. The submitted essays should be a personal piece of reflection on the imposed topic. In addition, in accordance with the rules governing the competition, the submissions shall be anonymous. Please refer to the guidelines on the Laureate of the Academy Prizepublished on the Academy’s website.
 
The 2011 Laureate of the Academy Prize will be awarded on Wednesday, 20 July 2011 at 12:00, by the President of the Arbitration Academy, Professor Emmanuel Gaillard.

July 13, 2011 | The Arbitration Academy is pleased to announce the Curriculum for the 2012 Session.

The General Course on International Commercial Arbitration will be given by Professor William Park from Boston University School of Law. The six Special Courses will be given by Professor Gabrielle Kaufmann-Kohler from University of Geneva;  Professor Eric Loquin from University of Dijon; Professor W. Michael Reisman from Yale Law School; Professor Mohamed Salah from University of Nouakchott; and Professor Hi-Taek Shin from Seoul National University.
 
The 2012 Session will also include 3 workshops: the ICC Arbitration Practice, the ICSID Arbitration Practice and the SCC Arbitration Practice.
 
Professor Jan Paulsson from the University of Miami School of Law will deliver the annual Berthold Goldman Lecture on Historic Arbitrations on the Pyramids Case.
 
The Courses will be preceded by an Inaugural Lecture given by Professor Sergei Lebedev, on "The negotiation of the 1958 New York Convention".

This platform is intended for all registered participants of the Academy. You will find here all practical information regarding the 2011 Session, outlines and presentations provided by the Faculty, as well as ideas and suggestions on what to do in Paris, where to travel in France and much, much more.

The aforementioned databases allow to search and browse an extensive collection of primary and secondary materials focusing mainly on international investment law, arbitration and public international law.

The Investor State Law Guide will offer to all participants to the Inaugural 2011 Session of the Arbitration Academy free online access, throughout the Session, to its online database (investorstatelawguide.com).
 
ISLG is the most recent database in the field of investment arbitration. It facilitates access to individual treaties, arbitral rules, cases and other key materials by linking specific passages in arbitral awards to other documents discussing a similar issue.
